It's not hard to see why pizza has such a large fan base. With all that tasty dough, crisp crust, tasty sauce, melty cheese, and enticing toppings, who could say no

one Connecticut restaurant's mouthwatering offerings were enough to earn them the title of 2023 Pizzeria of the Year from Pizza Today.

. Let the applause begin! Tony's Pizzeria Napoletana of San Francisco, which held the title in 2022, has been dethroned by this year's victor, Modern Apizza.


That is not an error. Originally called simply Tony's, this New Haven institution has been serving its signature thin-crust pizza from a coal-fired oven since its founding in 1934 by Antonio "Tony" Tolli.
